What Causes Dementia After A Stroke?

My mother suffered a stroke 6 weeks ago at age 89-she also was diagnosed with dementia. Now she spends almost all day in a very deep sleep. We are unable to wake her-she doesnot respond to sound ( she is hard of hearing ) or toch. How long does this last?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on the symptoms you are describing, it appears that your mother could be in a semi-comatose state following stroke, caused due to raised intracranial tension.
Kindly take her to the hospital promptly for detailed evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
Best wishes.
