Hi,
The commonest reasons of a dent on
scalp of a 32 year old lady are one of the following :
* Sebaceous cyst: it grows slowly hence does not cause pain at all unless infected. Hence the patient is not really bothered as is the case with your daughter. This is usually not very hard, the hair usually fall off the scalp area. Simple surgery of removal can cure the problem.
* Another cause is lipoma: very slow growing, painless, not tender at all. Needs excision, as simple procedure. Ask her to see whether such lumps are there at other parts of body.
If required
ultrasound can help .
If the Surgeon is feeling for any other diagnosis then
high resolution CT scan help a lot to see for any changes of underlying bone and so on.
You may please ask your daughter to
consult a General Surgeon and go for proper diagnosis and surgery if required.
Continue management with Ophthalmologist as before.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
