What Causes Dent On The Skull After Hitting?

I hit my head a couple of years ago. Soon after, I noticed a dent in my skull where I hit my head. I'm not sure if it's always been there, or if it happened when I hit my head. It's on the top left side of my skull and it's about 6 cm long, 2 cm wide and about 0.5 - 1 cm deep.

Hi there,
I am Dr Deepak, I work in Emergency Department, Where I see many of my patients with injury to head. You had injured your head couple of years back, after which you noticed a dent on your skull and you are not sure if it was because of injury to head.
Dent on the skull is formed when outer side of the skull bone is pushed into the inner side of the skull bone. You have mentioned that it is on the left side where you got injured. If you can feel the same indent on the right side also then probably its normal finding in your skull. If not then it could have been caused by the injury can't tell for sure. Since it happened long back it would healed by now. Its more of cosmetic thing now, If you are having trouble with it you can show to a plastic surgeon.
The Good thing is, you have not sustained any brain injury.
