What Causes Depression?

Hi Doctor,
I wanted to ask about something i dont understand. Today (around 11 hours earlier) i was betrayed by my friends, and that made me very emotional, caused me to cry a little. but now, my voice sounds very very low and i am unable to talk in my normal voice, and my hands are also shivering. I am 20 years old male.
