Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been a vegetarian for 15 years last month I ate a crab my neighbour caught and cooked and an hour later I threw up a clear slime until I was down to the bile. It only stopped when I found a gravol but I have had diarrhea ever since. About a month now.
Sea food can cause gastrointestinal disturbance if it is contaminated with micro organisms or parasites which results in food poisoning and further multiplication of the organism. What is the frequency of diarrhea you are having currently? Chances of it being gastrointestinal infection are high. It can cause severe dehydration. Make sure you consume sufficient water. Oral rehydration solutions can also be taken.
I suggest you visit your doctor and get yourself checked. Physical examination along with blood tests or stool sample test is necessary to know the underlying cause. Depending on that appropriate medical management can be done.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
