What Causes Diarrhea After Taking Plan-B?

Hi, I took the morning after pill Monday lunch time. Wednesday I started to have cramps and loose stool. This has carried on. Friday I visited the doctor they mentioned the cramps/diarrhoea is probably due to pill. Friday evening it s progressed to having blood in the diarrhoea. None on the toilet paper. But in the toilet can see red in bottom and around the stool. The last time I felt like this and had similar was when I visited Cuba and I assume u got a big from the difference in food etc but I have not being abroad this year.

Hi,

The morning after pill is not known to cause such a problem.
Surely this looks more to be an intestinal infection.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation, per-rectal examination to see any local cause like hemorrhoids that caused the blood in diarrhea.
Send sample of stool and blood for lab.
All these will give an indication about the possible cause.
You may be started on an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics if there is any evidence of an intestinal infection.
In the meanwhile take plenty of oral fluids, electrolyte solution, use boiled for 20 minutes and cooled water.
