I have had Colonoscopies and Endoscopies done with Biopsy taken in both areas. All negative reuslts for any known gut problems. I have lost weight steadily because I can t seem to eat solid food, I have just started feel very tired and hurting all over. I have a hard time moving at first but then can move once I am up. Just hear about a thing called PMR and wondered if this might be what might be going on. Can you share any insight on this disease, I am also a Type 2 diabetic

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I feel that you have problem of indigestion due to less movements of intestines following diabetes (long standing or poor controlled). This hampers action of digestive juices. The undigested food lying in intestines for a long time causes excess gas formation, acid peptic symptoms and loose motions. Infection of bowels aggravates the symptoms. Resultant defective absorption of nutrients results in weakness, tiredness, loss of weight, muscle and joint weakness, pain accompanying rheumatic factor adds up to the symptoms. In this context, you are suggested to have good sugar control/exercises for abdominal muscles along with yoga/walking daily for half an hour. Not to sleep immediately after eating. Supplementation of digestive enzymes over the counter after food would help. Consulting gastroenterologist, in case of no relief would be essential.
Thank you.
