What Causes Diarrhea And Acid Reflux After While On Hemodialysis?
My father is a young 92 year old. Been on hemo dialysis 9 years. Has no other health conditions we are aware of. The last year he has had freq bouts of uncontrollable diarrhea, reflux and belching. He takes 2 tums with each meal as ordered but also takes them inbetween meals for reflux and belching. Has been in hosp for week with severe stomache pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Could to many tums cause these symotoms?

Your father symptoms could be related to an infection or indigestion.
Too many times could lead to chronic diarrhea too.
Anyway, I recommend performing a stool analysis in order to exclude a possible infection and some blood lab tests (liver function tests, amylase and lipase for pancreatitis).
