What Causes Diarrhea And Body Rash While On Leflunomide, Hydroxychloroquine And Keppra?

My 80-year old mother is having diarrhea and a rash. I was wondering if her medications were causing it. She takes Leflunomide 20mg, Hydroxychloroquine 200mg, Losartan Potassium 100mg, Levothyroxin 175mcg, Keppra 500mg b.i.d., Bystolic 20mg, Lovastatin 20mg, Melatonin 5mg, Zyprexa 12.5mg, Furosemide 20mg, Caltrate D-600mg b.i.d., Spironolactone 50mg, and Olanzapine 12.5mg. We recently discontinued Evista in hopes of it alleviating the diarrhea and rash. She has a recent diagnosis of SIADH with a likely non-small cell lesion of the lung. The diarrhea has been a problem well before anyone suspected SIADH.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Hydroxychloroquine and Leflunomide may cause a rash on the body.

They may also cause photosensitivity. Use moisturex cream locally, please consult your physician/rheumatologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
