Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 15 year old son has had diarrhea since Tuesday afternoon with cramping in his lower abdominal area. He s drinking fluids and eating but everything goes through him. He s had a fever on and off. I m wondering if I need to take him in to a doctor or if I can continue to treat him?
I have read through your question and understand your concern. You can give him Tab Loperamide and probiotic respules twice daily. Keep him hydrated by giving him small sips of water at regular intervals. Give him salty crackers and ORS according to the instructions written on the sachet. After his diarrhea subsides you can give him light meal as and when he feels. If the diarrhea does not subside in two days get him assessed by a physician.
I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions, please feel free to write to me. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman, General & Family Physician
