Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Diarrhea And Mucus Discharge With Blood Inspite Of Giving Ornidazole?
My 3 year daughter had loose motions with mucus n blood from 9pm we gave her oflaxacin and ornidazole suspension but now she has slight temperature is this because of the infection or medicine One week back she had loose motion but no fever only for a day n then subsided without any medication n now suddenly has loosemotion
I suspect a bacterial or protozoal infection of intestines in your daughter. I would advise a course of a combination of antiprotozoal and antibiotics for a period of 5 days under consultation of your pediatrician.
Please keep your daughter hydrated with lots of fluids orally. Also, check signs of dehydration like lethargy, sunken eyes, dry and wrinkled skin, loss of turgor over skin by pinching it gently and seeing the time taken by the skin to retract back to its place.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
