What Causes Diarrhea And Undigested Food Particles In The Stool?

I have been having my bowel movements come out as loose stools and the raisins and prunes I add to my oatmeal in the morning are still whole. I take multiple medications, and I had a hip replacement and was taking a pain pill at night, Percocet5-325mg-could this be causing my symptoms? My digestion seems to have changed since I started this.

Hi,

Percocet would normally cause constipation. It would not cause the loose stool or the problems with digestion. You may need to assess the other medications that you are using to see if any of these are causing these effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
