What Causes Diarrhea And Vomiting After Taking Amox/K Clav 875?
My wife saw our Dr this afternoon, She has a sinus infection. He prescribed Amox/K CLAV 875. Upon our arrival home she took one dose and within two hours had severe diarrhea and vomiting. It is after six oclock and Dr is gone for the day. She is resting now.....should I take her to emergency or wait till morning.
Your wife is suffering from side effects of the antibiotic Amox/ K Clav. Diarrhoea and vomiting are common complications of antibiotic intake as they can disrupt the digestive process due to damaging the good bacteria along with harmful ones.. Do not worry the symptoms are temporary and will resolve once the course of antibiotics will finish.. In case of the symptoms are severe she should stop taking the antibiotics and consult an emergency room.. But if the symptoms are tolerable then then she can continue taking antibiotics and along with it take empty stomach Omeprazole till she is on antibiotics.. Along with it take plenty of probiotics like Yogurt.. Take plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
