What Causes Diarrhea, Body Aches, Low Grade Fever And Nausea?
Hello, i am 26 year old female and a week ago started with symptoms of diarrhea - then two days later started having body aches, low grade fever and a little nauseous but not throwing up. I went to the urgent care center this friday and after many hours they came back and said they did not know what i had but that my white blood count was 1.1 but everything else was fine. they gave be a bag of fluids, a steroid drip, cipro and recommended i take some imodium. Today i still have diarrhea and sort of body aches. what could this be and how long will it last? thank you
You are having enterocolitis infection of the intestine. But before starting antibiotic you could rule out typhoid infection by blood culture as in the first-week Widal doesn't show the conclusive result.
You can complete the course of prescribed antibiotic. In addition, I suggest you investigate with stool routine micro examination and stool culture as well. You can attach your reports for further discussion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
