Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Dr, My baby is 6 months 1 week old. I exclusively breast fed him for 5 months and started solids from when he was 5 months 10 days old.I was giving him EASUM - a mixture of Rice and Moong dal.He was constipated initially. We had to give a suppository as he was not passing motion for more than 4 days.I also occassionally give him banana, carrot(boiled and pupled) and apple(boiled and pupled).3 days back I tried with 3 tablespoons of Avacado.I have even given a mixture of Rice, moong dal, pigeon peas with 1 spoon ghee(clarified butter). Now he is having diarrhoea since 2 days. The stools looks like cuddled milk with water separated.I am now only breastfeeding him and also given him SPORLAC powder(Lactic Acid Bacillus)-1/2 gram twice. Please suggest.
Hi, Welcome to Hcm, I totally understand your concern. Must ensure you that you are doing pretty much right and great with your child. Diarrhea is known to happen in children who are started on weaning foods for various reasons. Good thing is most these are just viral diarrhea which needs no much therapy. I would suggest you continue to give symptomatic treatment for your child and keep him well hydrated. Dont stop breast milk. The loose stools should subside in another 3-5 days. Look for warning signs like lethargy, inability to feed, dry oral cavity and tongue etc when you need to rush to hospital. Hope your child gets well soon.
