What Causes Diarrhea In A Diabetic?

Hi, I have been having diarrhea every few days for the last three months. It comes on suddenly. I m a diabetic and I use Victosa in the morning and Lantus at bedtime. I think when I started using Victosa this started, but I thought I had a food allergy causing the diarrhea. My next Dr. visit is in August.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Suggestive of side effects of Victoza. Diarrhea is a common side effect of anti-diabetic medication Victoza. However, other causes of diarrhea like food poisoning or uncontrolled diabetes itself may cause autonomic dysfunction also should be considered.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
