Hi,
Firstly i will let you know what is
diarrhea in infants:
1) Sudden increase in the number or looseness of stools
2) There must be 3 or more watery or very loose stools. Presence of blood or mucus and bad smell of stools.
The causes are as follows:
1) Viral
2) Bacterial
3) parasitic
4) formula feed induced
5) Maldigestion
6) Cow's milk allergy
7) Lactose intolerance
8)
Teething in few babies
The most important thing in the management of diarrhea in infants is correction of
dehydration. The following are the signs of dehydration in a baby:
1) Decreased urine (no urine in 8 hours), very dark colored urine
2) Dry lips and tongue
3) Dry eyes with decrease or absent tears
4) Depressed soft spot
5) Fussy and inactive baby
6)
Fever or baby not accepting feeds
As your baby is breastfed, carry on
breastfeeding more than the normal number of times. If it's inadequate, formula feed can be given. Only after examination of the baby, a doctor can prescribe antibiotic if necessary. Most of the times diarrhea resolves by itself.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
