Hi there, My son is having loose motions for last 3 days.he is just 6.5 months. No medicine is given to him yet.Now he is going 2-3 times a day and stool is a bit liquid and greenish. Urinating regularly, no vomitting, no fever, He has started taking nestle ceralac for last 10 days. Drinking boiled water throughout the day. Yesterday, i gave him glucose also only one time. Is it okay for 6 months old infant?. Can i give him cipla PowerGyl ??
Diarrhea is usually due to an infection though it can also be due to a reaction to certain foods. Most of these infections, if that is the cause, are not treated with antibiotics though some require it Dehydration is a very real worry especially in children, he is losing fluid through his frequent bowel movements and he may not be eating as well.
The cerelac can possibly be contributing to the loose stool so you should consider stopping this. An oral rehydration product such as pedialyte would be better than the boiled water because the water is only giving fluids, not electrolytes.
The medication , cipla powergyl should not be given unless your doctor suggests it for him
I hope this helps
