Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is nearly 6months and she's teething. For the past week she has woken and had diarrhea every morning and atleast 3-4 more times that day. Her bum is sore and had blisters. I've noticed her diarrhea is waterly, slimey and froffy. Is this all normal?
Thanks for writing to health care magic. I can understand your concern.
Diarrhea can occur because of viral or other infections. Monitor for signs of dehydration. They include 1. Decreased skin turgor 2. Increasing thirst. 3. Sunken eyes. 4. Irritability. 5. Drowsiness. 6. Decreasing passage of urine. Oral rehydration solution or any other solution containing salt and sugar should be given. Probiotics and Zinc prescribed by your doctor will be useful.
In case of further dehydration the child requires Intravenous fluids.
For the rash around the anal region Zinc containing ointment are normally prescribed by pediatricians.
