What Causes Diarrhea, Vomiting And Muscle Ache After Taken Cephalexin?
Hi, I had skin infection and I was on Cephalexin 500 mg for 11 days 4 times a day. I had experienced diarrhea and vomiting and after taking some medication the diarrhea and vomiting is gone but now I have muscle pain all over my body specially on my back. I want to know long does it take the pain goes away and if this will get better or should I take medication for muscle pain?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
By your history and description, possibility of viral gastroenteritis is more likely in your case.
This kind of viral infection can cause body ache, muscle pain etc.
Usually these symptoms are self limiting in 1-2 weeks.
But you can take simple painkiller like paracetamol or Ibuprofen if your pain is persistent or more.
Along with painkiller, you should drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
You can also apply warm water pad on affected areas for better symptomatic relief.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
