General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Diarrhea which you are having is due to the antibiotic Ciprofloxacin and not due to Metronidazole.

Antibiotic-associated diarrhea is usually mild and requires no treatment. It usually clears up within a few days. But if diarrhea persists beyond a couple of days, you should take lactobacillus capsules. Lactobacilli are good bacteria which are good for your gut and will help with diarrhea.

You should also keep yourself hydrated. If diarrhea persists, consult your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
