What Causes Diarrhea While On Medrol Dosepak?

I was recently diagnosed with C.diff, completed a 10-day script of vancomycin and labs confirmed my last stool sample as C.diff not detected . Since then i was prescribed a medrol dose pak for allergies. I am one day from completing the steroids and today I started having diarrhea again. Could the steroids be the cause or could they have inhibited my immune system enough to allow the C.diff to return?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The only way to detect if the C. diff has returned is through the stool test.

Meanwhile, I suggest using over the counter options such as Imodium to treat diarrhea.

I also suggest to take daily probiotics and drink a lot of liquids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
