What Causes Diarrhea With Blood And Black Stool While On Antibiotics?
I had to go to the ER 2 days ago for extremely bad anal pain. I have a history of chronic hemorrhoids but the doctor said it wasn t that. It was an infection. He actually asked me if I had anal sex. I got pissed about that, anyway, I had a ct scan and all was good. I am on 2 different antibiotics for 7 days. I also take vitamins B complex. . I took milk of magnesia last night to help. Today I noticed that my diarrhea was blood, dark and ashy. Could it be a side affect of the meds? I also have high liver enzymes as well due to drinking way too much. I got a good lecture, maybe I m just being over reactive.
Antibiotic orally can cause Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) causing diarrhea and pseudomembranous colitis (PMC) in the most severe cases. Stool for toxin A or B or toxin-producing C. difficile detected in the stool by PCR or culture can confirm the diagnosis. Treatment will follow accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
