What Causes Diarrhea With Fever And Irregular Breathing?
Hi, my name is Madison and I have an 11 month old who has had diarrhea for a week or two the DRS told me he s just teething and to give him pedalight and so I did it continued now for the past 4 days he s had a fever and at night it gets up to 102.5 and his breathing is irregular. I m studying to be a nurse I m just hoping it isn t something bad..
Hi Madison! Prolonged diarrhea (2weeks) in a baby is not good. There is the risk of dehydration. When was the last time you had her checked? Fever and diarrhea can mean that there's an infection going on in her digestive tract. How is her feeding and activity? You can monitor her urine output. Does it seem that she is urinating less compared to other days? What do you mean with irregular breathing? Is it faster than her usual breathing? Does it seem that she is gasping for air? The diarrhea and the fever can make her dehydrated. Severe cases of dehydration can bring about deep and labored breathing. These are the things that you need to watch out for so you can consult your doctor at once. It is also best to have her stool checked to know what could have caused the diarrhea and the fever so proper antibiotic can be given. Hope I was able to help you.
