Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 7Q1 year old female and have just been diagnosed with Diastasis Recti. I do yoga twice a week and exercise everyday at home ( some yoga and some lower back exercises) which ones are bad for me and which ones are good? No one but me seem concerned about this. I have had an ultra sound to make sure nothing is wrong in the uteris area. My stomach sides are very hard and I also have a bump in the abdominal area that pops up when I do certain exercises. So I think that I have two problems. Please help with suggestions and information.
Weakness of the abdomen wall muscles and popping of the swelling which show up with coughing, lifting weight or other conditions which increase the intra abdomen pressure.
Certain exercises can increase the underlying defect for sure. It is recommended to undertake an ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis with evaluation of underlying muscle defect size, and the same must be corrected with surgical repair via mesh prosthesis before the issue worsen and get complicated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
