Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Difficulty For Sleeping On The Back In An Infant?
My child is almost 9 months old. He has started struggling to go to sleep on his back so much so that he scream for almost an hour. Last night I rolled him over onto his belly and rub his back and within a matter of seconds he was asleep. He can roll both direction while awake so is it ok to put him to sleep on his tummy
First of all, it's sad to know what your son had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, it is perfectly ok if you make him asleep on the belly.
At times infants may feel cramps in abdomen and just need a bit of massage and no pharmacological treatment. However, for reassurance, a baseline Chet and CVS examination for any abnormal heart sounds or murmur should be done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
