What Causes Difficulty Hearing After Having Severe Wax?

I normally have very dry, light colored earwax. Recently I have been waking up at night and one ear will make a squishing type noise when I raise it from the pillow. The wax has become dark, wet, and abundant. It is difficult for me tk hear from that ear now. What could it be?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have difficulty hearing after having severe wax. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like otitis externa , eat drum rupture or internal ear infection . If there is no pain , hearing loss and fulness in ear then its normal . Just consult ENT specialist and get ear wax removed by doctor . Doctor may also examine with otoscope along with CT scan and taking history . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin at least for days along with anti inflammatory .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
