What Causes Difficulty Hearing In Left Ear Despite Taking Amoxicillin?
My left ear has been draining clear fluid for two days and it smells like chlorine. I have lost most of my hearing out of that ear and was started on amoxicillin 500mg three times a day. It is now day three with no improvement, if anything it has gotten worse. What else can be done?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have difficulty hearing in left ear despite taking Amoxicillin which is caused by inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection , meniere's disease , acoustic neuroma , sinusitis and multiple sclerosis . Along with antibiotics you also need to take oral as well as nasal decongestants and do steam inhalations.
In case if it still does not resolve consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Otoscopy can help.In case if there is fluid accumulation in ear and not resolving with medication the physician can do surgical drainage of fluid by putting a small incision in the eardrum. Doctor may also prescribe antiviral drugs in case of viral infection.
