What Causes Difficulty In Bending The Knees?

My knee won t bend all the way back. It feels like something is inhibiting it. I run often and I did not fall or remember losing my footing. I can walk on it and move, but I can t straighten it fully nor can I bend it fully. There is small pain, but it more feels like it is swollen. Do you know what could be wrong with it? Thank you!
