What Causes Difficulty In Bending The Thumb After A Wrist Surgery?
On April 23, 2015, I broke my right wrist and had surgery to have a plate put in. I have full function and feeling in my wrist. On August 13 I twisted my right wrist and wore a brace for 2 days until pain went away. On August 5, 2016 I woke up unable to bend my right thumb from the top knuckle. I feel no pain, just normal feeling in thumb and hand.

Hello,
* As per my surgical experience, the difficulty in bending thumb can be related to nerve compression affecting the function of flexor or adductor muscles of the thenar eminence of palm most likely through median nerve or else.
* After a thorough physical examination, a CT scan evaluation would be best considered against MRI as there is prosthesis in situ.
