Mesothelioma 84 year old having increasing trouble breathing in last few days. Started on oxygen this past Friday. he had an oxygen reading of 88, now on machine in bed readings in low 90s, but out of bed labored breathing walking short distance without oxygen, measuring 85-86. Is he at risk of hyperventilating ? Or becoming unconscious at below 90?

What Causes Difficulty In Breathing?
Hello, Consult a pulmonologist and get evaluated. Major curative procedures will not be feasible at this age. Bronchodilators and steroids can be tried. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
