Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Difficulty In Conceiving After Mirena Removal?
I had mirena for 7 years, and ended up at the hospital on March 31, 2015 with bleeding. Doctor said I was starting periods again because IUD was wearing off so it was removed. Been trying since to get pregnant and haven t been able to. Should I see a doctor or since it was in for so long will it take longer? I have 3 kids with my ex husband so I know I was able to have children before mirena.
If the Mirena was not with hormones the fertility is back immediately. If it is with hormone the fertility needs about 6 months to be back. Try for 6 months then get evaluated. Having kids before doesn't mean that you can have them again anytime. Age and diseases can remove us our reproduction ability.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
