What Causes Difficulty In Getting Pregnant Despite Taking Clomid?
Good morning doctor, I have been trying to conceive since June this year and have not been able to. My prolactin level is at 55 percent. I have taken parlodel and the breast milk has stopped coming out.But I have not conceived yet despite I am still on parlodel and clomid and have also taken HCG injection. Frances
The treatment of conception problem depends on the cause. Clomid may help you ovulate but this will only help if the cause of your problem is related to absence of ovulation. However, hyperprolactinemia (higher than normal prolactin) may cause reduced FSH levels which then results in ovulation problems. This condition will be solved with drugs that help to bring prolatin level to normal.
Parlodel is a good drug for this. I will suggest you exercise more patience and observe if any menstrual cycle disorders. Since breast milk no longer flows, it shows that your prolactin level is already low enough. I will also recommend frequent sexual exposures with no contraceptive method. You may as well see your gynecologist for evaluation and better follow up.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mbuomboh Veranso
