What Causes Difficulty In Identifying Certain Colours?

I have some problems differentiating between closer colors (such as navy and black). However, I notice that I generally have problems seeing red cars when I m sitting at an intersection and also yellow and black dots on marked down items at my job. Is this a form of colorblindness or what could be causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Some conditions that can cause color deficits are sickle cell anemia, diabetes, macular degeneration, Alzheimer's disease, glaucoma, Parkinson's disease, chronic alcoholism and leukemia.

One eye may be more affected than the other, and the color deficit may get better if the underlying disease can be treated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
