What Causes Difficulty In Moving Legs While Suffering From Arthritis?

My husband after sitting for a while in his recliner chair upon standing with have to hesitate for approx. 5 seconds before he can get his legs to move. He has arthritis in both knees but the hesitation seems to be more an inability to make his legs move to walk. He s 68 years old and otherwise in good health.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, welcome to HCM. In arthritis the joints will be inflammed. When he is on one position for longer duration, there will be immobility of the bones and also the synovial fluid which is present within the joint. So when he tries to move there will be restriction.it takes time for the mobilisation. Added to this pain also will be there which makes him to move slowly . Please take advice from arthologist .Take care
