Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Difficulty In Neck Movement While Suffering From Facial And Cervical Dystonia?
I am unable to lift my head/neck up without help. I have been diagnosed with cervical and facial dystonia and get botox injections evey three months to help with this disorder. I also was diagnosed in 2012 with degeneration of cervical intervertebral disc. How can I regain movement?
As there is chronic dystonia problem and you are already on Botox injection therapy, a detail analysis of all possible issues have to be evaluated so far as the regain movement issue is concerned. In my clinic, I do recommend work up with: - Blood test of antibodies against neuromuscular junction, nerve endings, acetylcholine or muscle fibers - Genetic studies - MRI cervical spine - Electromyography and nerve conduction study
If any of the above reports are available with you to send as an attachment during follow up chat, it would serve great to deal with the issue understanding and guide accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
