What Causes Difficulty In Passing Hard Stool When On Breastfeeding?
HHi im a new mum of a 6 day old and breastfeeding, I cannot pass a large hard stool i be drank 2litres of fruit juice and hasnt seemed to helped it also feels like im swollen and very tender is there abenythingthat I can take for fast relief because its got so uncomfortable and I cannot hold amymore
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Difficulty in passing hard stools is not uncommon after pregnancy as there can be a fissure in ano that causes the swelling as you have said in the history. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Sitz bath in a tub with warm water. Passage of Glycerine or Dulcolax suppository as it may assist in evacuation. Laxatives that are safe for the newborn too. You can take Paracetamol or Ibuprofen if it suits you for reduction in swelling and pain. Increase fiber input with food or as supplement to help soften the stool. If there is still a problem you may insist for enema.
