Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Difficulty In Pronouncing Certain Words?
Recently I have begun having difficulty saying words with s -not sh, sp, etc. I noticed it once a week for two weeks in a row and now it s common for it to happen daily. Recently had a physical and everything was good. I m 60 years old. What could be causing this? And of course, the more I think about it the worse it is. Very concerned.
If having a problem for pronouncing some specific words or general problem of speech in that case speech therapist may be consulted. It can be a psychological problem if so then second opinion can be taken for further investigation. General investigation to rule out diabetes or hypertension should be done. It may be psychiatric problem then may be consulted a psychiatrist if it is psychiatric then be treated on his advice.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash,
Ophthalmologist
