Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing And Spasms In The Throat?
I have had spazums in my throat some times I eat. I can’t swallow and barely can breath This has happened maybe 10 times over the past 2 years It last from 10 seconds to 30 seconds. It is not food stuck in the throat. It is defiantly a closing or spazum of the throat
As per your query, you have symptoms of difficulty in swallowing and spasms in the throat which can occur probably due to throat infection that can be bacterial or viral in nature.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult an otolaryngologist once and get it evaluated after a thorough clinical investigation and tests like throat swab culture.
The Doctor may prescribe antibiotics and along with it start taking anti-inflammatory medications as well. Start doing warm saline gargles and take throat lozenges. You should chew Vitamin C pellet. Avoid spicy and chilled foods. Eat soft food or liquid diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
