What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing Food, Cough And Constant Gas?

For the last two weeks I have been experiencing problems swallowing food as it travels down on my right side near my ribs. And I have coughing and constant gas. I am waiting for my doctor to return back from vacation. Is this something that I need to go emergency?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As you have difficulty in swallowing, it may be because of tonsillitis, epiglottitis, laryngitis or may because of esophageal obstruction. Do you have a fever? You can take tablet azithromycin for a throat infection, syrup codex, tablet Diapepsin P for abdominal bloating. If it is not, then do chest x-ray and endoscopy. I will suggest you follow up with a detailed history or consult with a physician for detailed examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regard,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
