What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing Food?

I have been having trouble when I chew gum or swallow food the left side of my neck and tongue. I can swallow , but it feels like I am overtaxing my tongue and that side of my throat is somewhat sore in the muscles, not like a sore throat. I have no acid reflux. Any ideas?
