What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing Post Angioplasty?

After angioplasty 7 years ago I remember having trouble swallowing. It felt like there was something stuck in my esophagus. The nurse said don`t worry, blah, blah, blah, and latter on I read that if you feel this to notify the doctor because the catheter may have punctured something. Do you know what that would be? I am worried because I must go back for more angioplasty. I had a 2.8mm stent put in the LAD last time. Thank you. Michael

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Angioplasty done 7 years before is unlikely to cause difficulty in swallowing. Difficulty in swallowing can be due to some pathology in esophagus which may be unrelated to the angioplasty. I suggest you to consult a gastroenterologist for clinical assessment and thus management.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
