What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing Post Fluid Drainage From Lungs?
my mom had a difficulty to swallow, she started to lose weight. She ended with neumonia and surgery to drain fluid even outside of her lungs. She recovered well w/ all things considered. However the swallow symstom remains. They gave her antidepression pill and reglan. Then she had difficulty to breath, lose control of her hands and head. Ended in the emergency twice after that. Now she can hardly move her right hand and leg. She can no long sit straigth or hold her head. Bye the way, they put a feeding tude in her stomach for food. Is there a hope that someday she will be able to swallow?
The difficulty in swallowing post fluid drainage from lungs may be part of esophageal spasm or other pathology. As the severity of the condition is pronounced to take to an ER, its detailed evaluation is mandatory with upper GI endoscopy via fiber endoscope.
