Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hard in swallowing or dysphagia is one effect of swollen
tonsillitis.
Tonsillitis usually occurs due to a viral infection but does not close the possibility caused by a bacteria. So I suggest that you continue the use of antibiotics as directed by your doctor. If the tonsils reduce in sizes with drugs then it will not be a problem because it is one of the body's defenses that will enlarge due to infection and shrink when the infection is lost. So, not all tonsillitis should be operated on.
But if the tonsils continue to enlarge and close the airway then it should not continue to be left dangerous. Tonsil surgery (tonsils) or
tonsillectomy done if found indications including:
• Hypertrophy or enlarged tonsils that have closed and cause
airway obstruction. Symptoms include
obstructive sleep apnea is the condition of breathing cessation suddenly while sleeping because of enlargement of the tonsils or snoring
• Inflammation of recurrent tonsils due to infection or tonsillitis attacks 4 to 5 times or more in 1 year with adequate therapy.
• Tonsil is a focal infection or contains crypts or
peritonsillar abscess (a buildup of pus around the tonsils)
• Difficult to swallow due to enormous tonsils with crypts.
Consult it further with your ENT.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
