What Causes Difficulty In Urination Post Injury To Lower Back?
I suffered a lower back injury last week. The DR is waiting for approval for an MRI. My last scan was over a year ago and I had bulging disks. I had cortisone shots but it only provided relief for about a month. I have lived with this for a few years. This time when I hurt my back it made a series of loud pops, and I wet myself. The hospital gave me pain meds to help but that is all until my primary can take over. My question is, this time I injured it I have a real hard time starting to urinate and it always feels like I have to go. I have never had this reaction to the meds before so I dont think that is the problem. I m real worried that I may have done some serious damage this time. Any thoughts?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query.I understand your concern. The recent accodent seems to have cause pinching of nerve roots at lumbosachral level.. which control bladder activity.Your MRI report would confirm it.. & tretment at such stage is surgical decompression of the nerve to improve bladder function. Thanks.
