What Causes Dilation Of The Pupil?

A couple days after my friends gallbladder sugery, she had noticed that one pupil is dilated, while the other isnt. I reseached on it, and i found that it could be the meds, or a stroke. I found this strange, is it really normal for meds to this? And if not, does that automatically make it a stroke or are there other causes.

Medication (systemic) cause dilatation of both pupils, unless its in form drops and used in one eye.

Dilatation one pupil could be medical or surgical causes like nerve palsy, inflammations, infections(syphilis) etc.

Kindly mention to treating doctor about this, needful evaluation following.
