What Causes Diplopia?

why have I been seeing things double. Things like letters and clock hands seem to have an out line when i look, also for the past few weeks when i wake my one of my eyes burn and gradually the burning sensation fades away. i have difficulty focusing on seeing. I got my eyes checked by a specialist last year and was told there was nothing wrong.

It seems from the history that you are having diplopia.
The cause for diplopia depends on the type of diplopia, whether it is uniocular or binocular. Binocular diplopia is the common of two, here the diplopia is present only on opening both the eyes. The common causes are paralysis of the nerves which supply the extraocualr muscles.
Hence this requires evaluation by ophthalmologist to find out the underlying cause and treatment accordingly.
