I am a forty-four year old woman who has been experiencing spontaneous discharge from my breast for the past 4 years. I had mammograms and ultra sounds done in the last 2 years. the results were not adverse. I was diagnosed as having fibrocystic breast 5mths ago.I am still experiencing great discomfort and breast discharge more frequently. What can this signify?

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi,

Fibrocystic disease of breast is usually a benign condition. I will suggest you to have a course of oral contraceptive pills for 3 cycles and repeat mammogram every 6 months.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sujoy S. Bhattacharjee, OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine
