What Causes Discoloration And Itching On The Legs And Stomach?
HI, my name is Sandy and my 84 1/2 yr old father has developed a skin discoloring several months ago. Today he showed me his legs and stomach area and it looks like someone took a baseball bat and beat him. These discolorations are oozing and are very itchy. The local doctor and dermotologists have no answers although biopsis have been taken. Last week blood samples came back and said hiptoplasmosis and a B12 shot given. As I have POA of my parents, I am hoping you can give us some answers. Thanks, Sandy
I am sorry for the health problems your 84 1/2 yr old father is going through. The presence of skin discoloring similar to someone took a baseball bat and beat him are indicating a possible problems with blood coagulation system and/or anemia which is often present in patients of her age. It could be great, if you send a photo of the affected areas to me together with biopsy or other lab results.

Hello, I am sorry for the health problems your 84 1/2 yr old father is going through. The presence of skin discoloring similar to someone took a baseball bat and beat him are indicating a possible problems with blood coagulation system and/or anemia which is often present in patients of her age. It could be great, if you send a photo of the affected areas to me together with biopsy or other lab results. Vitamin B12 shots means that deficit in this Vitamin has been shown in her blood reports, in other words pernicious anemia. Histoplasmosis should be treated with anti-fungal medications for which you need a prescription (Itraconazole, Fluconazole, etc.). Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
