Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Discoloration And Severe Pain In Tooth?
my front tooth has been hurting for a week and is now turning purple. The dentist did an xray and said that my tooth was healthy and was suffering from gum recession. He told me to put sensodine toothpaste on it before going to be at night. I feel like there might be more going on than just gum recession.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain if you have pain in tooth and if tooth is turning purple then it can be due to internal resorption in which there is resorption or disintegration of the tooth from inside.
In case of gum recession the tooth will not turn purple rather the gums will receed and the root will start being visible along with pain and sensitivity to hot and cold..
I would suggest you to consult an Endodontist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and planing treatment.. As of now you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the area.. You can also take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
